QUICK ANSWER
Direct answers
What is an Abyss on the Atlas?
An Abyss shows up as a fissure or crack on the map. Following it opens nodes along a line, and reaching the end can open the Abyssal Depths.
The line keeps moving, so a fast character follows more of it and reaches the Depths more often.
How do I enter the Depths?
The Abyssal Depths open when you clear enough of the fissure line. A bigger, faster clear raises the chance the Depths appear.
What is the Unique boss invitation for?
The Unique boss drops an invitation. That invitation is the gate to the Vessel of Kulemak, the Abyss pinnacle boss.
What does Abyss crafting give?
Abyss rewards feed crafting: jewels, socketables and special items such as The Master's Reach come from Abyss content.
OVERVIEW
Finding Abyss on the Atlas
Abyss appears as a fissure node on the Atlas. Running a map that contains it spawns the crack in the zone.
The fissure draws a line across the map as you fight along it. Killing monsters near the line extends it; ignoring it lets it close.
Faster, more mobile characters follow the line further, which is why move speed and clear speed matter more for Abyss than for static encounters.
- Fissure node on the Atlas
- Line extends as you kill along it
- Speed matters more than raw damage
DIAGNOSTIC
Abyss path diagnostic
Pick the symptom you hit and follow the fix.
OVERVIEW
Encounter stages
Stage one is the fissure line: follow it, kill the spawns, and extend it as far as you can.
Stage two is the Abyssal Depths if it opens: a bonus area with chests and the Abyss boss fight.
Stage three is the Unique boss, which is what drops the invitation that gates the pinnacle.
- Fissure line
- Abyssal Depths
- Unique boss and invitation
OVERVIEW
Abyssal Depths
The Abyssal Depths are the bonus space opened by a strong fissure clear. They hold richer chests than the surface line.
The Depths are where the Abyss boss appears, so treating them as the real payoff of the encounter is correct.
Note the 0.5.4 fix: Atlas Passives that did not apply inside the Depths before now work, so old reward math from pre-0.5.4 Depths is stale.
- Bonus space from a strong clear
- Holds the Abyss boss
- Atlas Passives now apply (0.5.4 fix)
OVERVIEW
Rewards and crafting
Abyss rewards split into currencies, jewels, socketables and special items. The Master's Reach is one of the notable special drops.
Socketables from Abyss feed your gear; jewels from the Depths are the higher-value crafting target.
Decide what you farm before the run: if you want The Master's Reach, push Depths and the Unique boss rather than skimming the surface line.
- Currencies, jewels, socketables, special items
- The Master's Reach is a notable drop
- Target Depths for jewels

OVERVIEW
Reaching the Vessel of Kulemak
The Vessel of Kulemak is the Abyss pinnacle boss, reached through the Unique boss invitation chain.
It assumes a character that already clears Abyssal Depths and the Unique boss, so do not attempt it under-geared.
This guide covers the path and preparation; the boss page covers the Vessel of Kulemak's attacks in detail once reachable.

Open source ↗COMMON MISTAKES
Common problems
If the fissure keeps closing, you are too slow; switch to a faster, more mobile character or pre-clear the path.
If the Depths never open, your clear is too short; follow the line further and kill its packs.
If the invitation never drops, you are running normal fissures; only the Unique boss drops it.
- Fissure closes = too slow
- No Depths = clear too short
- No invitation = normal fissure only
