QUICK ANSWER

Remember These First

Tavakai, the Chieftain is the Act 4 final boss. The three names (Chieftain / Fallen / Consumed) are forms of ONE fight, not three separate bosses.

He runs to a second arena between forms — do not think he despawned or that you won early.

In the Consumed form, Ancestor Blessings change the safe zones; watch the ground, not just the boss.

If a phase stalls (boss invulnerable, not moving), it is usually a transition beat — keep damaging the correct target and wait.

Three forms?

One fight, Chieftain then Fallen then Consumed

Runs away?

He transitions to a second arena mid-fight

Key hazard

Ancestor Blessings + Spikefield in Consumed

If stuck

Keep attacking; respawn only if truly softlocked

FAQ

Top search questions: forms, transitions, progress

Is Tavakai the Act 4 final boss?

Yes. He is the climax of Act 4 and gates progression into the Interludes.

Are Chieftain / Fallen / Consumed three bosses?

No. They are three forms of the same fight, triggered by HP thresholds and a mid-fight arena transition.

Why did he run to a new arena?

Between the Chieftain and Fallen forms he crosses to a stone circular arena. Follow him; the fight is not over.

Why is he suddenly invulnerable?

Transitions make him briefly untargetable or immune. That is normal; keep positioning and wait for the next form to open.

OVERVIEW

Three-Form Overview

Tavakai fights as three escalating forms: the Chieftain opens with hook and slam combos, the Fallen appears after he crosses to a stone arena with a Corrupted Barrage and Jade Sunder, and the Consumed adds periodic hazards and Ancestor Blessings in the final stretch.

All three are the same boss. The mid-fight run to the second arena is the single biggest source of confusion — players who stop attacking assume the fight ended.

  • Chieftain: hook + three-slam combo, punish after big skills.
  • Fallen: Corrupted Barrage + Jade Sunder, hit from behind the barrage.
  • Consumed: Spikefield + rotating Ancestor Blessings, short windows after hazards clear.

ARENA READING

Arena and Ancestor Blessings

The fight spans two arenas: an open first arena and a stone circular second arena. In the Consumed form, Ancestor Blessings (Tawhoa's, Ramako's, Arohongui's) periodically mark safe and dangerous zones.

Each Blessing has a visual tell, a danger area, and a move direction. The safe spot shifts, so keep reading the ground rather than locking onto the boss.

  • Tawhoa's Blessing: avoid the indicated strike zone, move to the flank.
  • Ramako's Blessing: light-based hazard, keep to covered sides.
  • Arohongui's Blessing: reposition as the safe ring moves.
  • Never only watch the boss — the edges decide your safety.

OVERVIEW

Phase Transition States

Between forms Tavakai is briefly untargetable or immune and may cross to the second arena. This is intended — a high-burst build that skips a form too fast can make the next form feel abrupt, but it is not a bug.

If he appears stuck (not moving, no progress) after a kill, first confirm you followed him to the new arena. A true softlock is rare; respawn at checkpoint only if the arena never updates.

  • Transitions are normal invulnerability windows.
  • Follow him across arenas; the fight continues.
  • Respawn only on a confirmed softlock.

BUILD-SPECIFIC STRATEGY

Build Considerations

Tavakai rewards burst during the short windows after each form's big skill. Sustained damage alone drags the fight and lets Blessings pile up.

Melee can punish slam combos up close; ranged must respect the Corrupted Barrage cone and keep mobile for Blessings.

  • Melee: punish after the three-slam combo.
  • Ranged: stay behind the barrage cone, kite Blessings.
  • Burst builds shine in the Consumed windows.
  • Avoid standing still for any Blessing.
