Overview

Twisted Empyrean rewards maximum mana: it scales your damage with mana, and the unique chain (Rathpith Globe granting spell damage, Crown of Eyes converting spell damage to attack damage) lets a Titan slam bosses with what looks like caster power.

This is a verification-first guide. The dependency chain is described from current creator guides; the key risk - empty mana removing both damage and defense - is the actionable core.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Big single slam bursts once the unique chain is online.
  • Maximum mana scales both offense and a defensive layer.
  • Titan natural bulk suits the slam playstyle.
  • Clear uses a mobile Leap Slam.

Cons

  • Needs several specific uniques to function.
  • Empty mana removes damage AND defense at once.
  • One slam rarely one-shots every boss.
  • High-investment; not a barebones league starter.

Is This Build Right For You?

Pick Twisted Empyrean if you enjoy a mana-stacking slam identity and you can source the core uniques (Twisted Empyrean, Rathpith Globe, Crown of Eyes). It is not a starter; it is an endgame project.

If you lack the uniques, run a generic slam Titan first. The build only clicks once the chain is complete.

Leveling Path

  1. Levels 1-40 - Generic slam · 1-40

Level as a normal slam Warrior with a two-hander. Focus on life and resistances; the unique chain is not online yet.

  2. Levels 41-65 - Unique assembly · 41-65

Acquire Twisted Empyrean, then Rathpith Globe and Crown of Eyes as budget allows. Hold a generic slam until the chain is complete.

  3. Levels 66+ - Mana stack · 66+

Stack maximum mana on gear and jewels. Add mana reservation efficiency and the slam supports.

  4. Waystones - Endgame · Waystones

Refine crit, resistances and mana. Benchmark on T15 before pushing 200% Delirium content.

Gear and Uniques

Helmet

Required

  1. Spell Damage to Attacks — Core conversion
  • Crown of Eyes is the conversion key: it lets spell damage affect your attacks, which is what the Twisted Empyrean chain needs.

Crown of Eyes (core unique)

Body Armour

Required

  1. Spell Damage from Mana — Damage source
  • Rathpith Globe grants spell damage from maximum mana - a normal roll plus a possible corrupted roll. The corrupted line is bonus, not required.

Rathpith Globe (core unique)

Weapon

Required

  1. Maximum Mana scaling — Build engine
  • Twisted Empyrean is the build's namesake unique; it drives the mana-scaling damage. A two-hander baseline works while assembling the rest.

Twisted Empyrean (core unique)

Jewels / Rings

Required

  1. Maximum Mana — Scales damage and defense
  • Maximum mana, life, resistances. Stack mana wherever it does not cost a core unique slot.

Maximum mana / life

Stat Priority

  1. Maximum ManaScales both damage and defense
  2. Resistances (cap)Survival gate

  5. Mana Reservation EfficiencyFrees auras

Upgrade Priority

  1. Starter -> Functional

Generic slam; cap resistances and life before chasing uniques.

  2. Functional -> Endgame

Acquire the three core uniques, then stack maximum mana and add slam supports.

  3. Endgame -> Luxury

Chase perfect mana rolls, crit gear and jewels only after T15 is comfortable.

Unique Dependency Chain

Twisted Empyrean (mana scaling) -> maximum mana -> Rathpith Globe (spell damage) -> Crown of Eyes (spell damage to attacks) -> Titan slam amp -> boss debuff -> Hammer of the Gods. Each arrow depends on the prior unique; a missing link collapses the chain.

Why Max Mana Matters Twice

Maximum mana feeds the damage conversion AND sits before life as a defensive buffer on this setup. When mana is healthy, you hit hard and survive; when it is empty, you lose both at once.

Spell Damage to Attack

Crown of Eyes is what makes caster-style spell damage apply to your attacks. Without it, the Rathpith mana-to-spell-damage step has nothing to convert into slam power.

Slam Mechanics

Fist of War and Ancestral Empowerment amplify your slam's committed damage; they reward standing in the slam rather than cancel-casting. Leap Slam is the clear tool, Hammer of the Gods is the boss tool.

Mapping Rotation

For normal packs: Leap Slam through safe lanes; the mobility is the clear, not a stationary slam. Save the big slam for rares and bosses.

Rare Rotation

For rares: drop Orb of Storms and Warrior Mark, then Hammer of the Gods. Keep moving between slams; do not over-extend into a deadly modifier.

Boss Rotation

For bosses: apply the Effigy of Cruelty / Critical Weakness debuff, drop Orb of Storms and Mark, then commit Hammer of the Gods. Verify the sequence in the current client before treating the written order as final, and disengage on telegraphed slams.

Titan Ascendancy

Titan's slam and stun bonuses suit a committed-hit playstyle. The ascendancy makes the big slam hit harder and more reliably, which is exactly what this mana-conversion build wants for bosses.

Passive Tree Approach

Start with life, resistances and maximum mana nodes, then specialize toward slam and crit as the uniques allow. The tree is read against your mana pool, not copied wholesale.

Budget Variants

Before the uniques, run a generic slam Titan - it is a real, playable build. Twisted Empyrean only becomes the headline once Twisted Empyrean, Rathpith Globe and Crown of Eyes are all present.

Defensive Layers

Life plus the mana-before-life buffer is the baseline. Because empty mana removes both offense and defense, manage mana uptime as a survival stat, not just a damage stat.

reddit · Editorial paraphrase

Players report that a no-regen map plus the mana costs can leave them with no damage and no buffer at once, confirming the double risk.

Mana empty

forum · Editorial paraphrase

Question: which Rathpith line is the corrupted bonus. The consensus is the base mana-to-spell-damage roll is required; the extra corrupted line is luxury.

Players note that until mana and life are both solved, the build feels squishy because empty mana removes the buffer.

Questions and Answers

What does Twisted Empyrean actually provide?

It scales your damage with maximum mana, which is the engine that the rest of the unique chain amplifies.

Why does max mana affect both damage and defense?

It drives the damage conversion and also sits as a buffer before life on this setup. Empty mana therefore removes both.

Can I start this on a low budget?

Not as Twisted Empyrean. Run a generic slam Titan until you have the three core uniques; then the build clicks.

Does one slam one-shot every boss?

No. 200% Delirium survival conclusions do not generalize; the slam is a strong burst, not a universal delete button.

Troubleshooting

No damage and squishy at once

  • Check mana uptime first - empty mana removes both. Add mana sources / reservation efficiency before changing damage gear.

Missing a core unique

  • Run a generic slam Titan until the missing link (typically Crown of Eyes or Rathpith Globe) is acquired; the chain cannot function without it.
