QUICK ANSWER
Direct answers
What is a Breach on the Atlas?
A Breach is an end-game map encounter marked by Clasped Hands. Entering it opens a breach that spills monsters; killing them before the breach closes banks Splinters.
Splinters of the same Breachlord combine into a Breachstone, which is the key to deeper Breach content.
Why does my Breach end so fast?
Every Breach has an encounter timer. Killing monsters inside extends the breach, while idle time drains it. Closed or small maps end faster than open layouts.
What is the Breach Hive?
The Breach Hive is the upgraded, self-contained version of the Breach system. It trades the open-map scramble for a focused lane with its own objectives and better rewards.
How do I reach Xesht?
Xesht, We That Are One, is the Breach pinnacle boss. You reach it by progressing the Breach questline through Breachstones, the Hive and the Stronghold until the pinnacle invitation opens.
OVERVIEW
Recognising a Breach on the Atlas
Breaches appear as Clasped Hands nodes on the Atlas. Hovering shows the Breachlord and the tier, which scales the monster level and reward density.
Running a map that contains a Breach spawns the hands in the zone. Walking into them begins the encounter immediately, so clear your approach first if your build is fragile.
Each Breachlord has its own Splinter type. Keep Splinters sorted by Breachlord; mixing them does not combine into a usable Breachstone.
- Clasped Hands = Breach node on the Atlas
- Tier scales monster level and rewards
- Splinters are per-Breachlord, not interchangeable
OVERVIEW
The encounter timer
When the breach opens, a timer starts. Killing monsters inside the breach refills the timer and spawns more, so a fast, mobile character sustains the breach longer.
Clasped Hands drop inside the breach. Always collect them before the breach collapses; uncollected hands are lost when the timer ends.
Map layout matters: open maps let you chain packs and keep the timer alive, while narrow maps force backtracking and cut the run short.
- Kills extend the timer
- Collect Clasped Hands before collapse
- Open maps sustain Breaches better than closed maps
OVERVIEW
Unstable Breach vs the Breach Hive
A normal Breach is a timed, open-map scramble for Splinters. You race the clock and the map to grab as many Clasped Hands as possible.
The Breach Hive is the higher tier: a self-contained Breach space with dedicated objectives. It drops denser rewards and feeds the Genesis Tree and Stronghold progress.
Spend normal Breaches farming Splinters and Breachstones; move into the Hive once you want Genesis points and the pinnacle path rather than raw Splinter volume.
- Normal Breach = Splinter volume
- Breach Hive = objectives, Genesis points, better rewards
- Hive assumes a stronger, faster character
OVERVIEW
Rewards and Splinters
Breach Splinters combine into a Breachstone for the matching Breachlord. Breachstones are the repeatable key to the Hive and deeper content.
Wombgift is a special Breach reward currency used for Breach-themed jewellery crafting, such as special rings, amulets and belts.
Catalysts, Breach Rings and other Breach-themed items drop from Breach content and feed either your character or the trade economy; the trade guide covers pricing them.
- Splinters combine into Breachstones
- Wombgift crafts Breach jewellery
- Breach items feed trade or self-use

| Stage | Objective | Reward | Leads to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal Breach | Kill inside, grab Clasped Hands | Splinters | Breachstone |
| Breachstone | Run the Breachstone | Hiveblood, rewards | Breach Hive |
| Breach Hive | Clear Hive objectives | Genesis points | Stronghold |
| Stronghold | Complete Stronghold | Pinnacle access | Xesht |
OVERVIEW
Genesis Tree planner
The Genesis Tree is the Breach passive tree. It is organised into four quadrants, each tied to a Breachlord theme and the rewards that Breachlord emphasises.
Spend Genesis points on the quadrant that matches what you farm most: Splinter yield, Hive rewards, Wombgift chance, or pinnacle preparation. Spreading too early dilutes the benefit.
Re-spec is possible, so commit to one quadrant per character until you have enough points to branch out. Confirm point costs on the live tree before allocating.
- Four quadrants, one per Breachlord theme
- Focus one quadrant before branching
- Point costs shown on the live tree
OVERVIEW
Wombgift crafting
Wombgift is the Breach currency used to craft special Breach-themed jewellery, such as rings, amulets and belts with Breach-flavoured modifiers.
Decide what you want before spending: a specific slot (ring vs amulet vs belt) and the modifier direction. Wombgift is scarce early, so target one item rather than sampling all three.
If you mainly trade, bank Wombgifts and sell them; the currency-exchange guide covers turning them into liquid currency efficiently.
- Crafts Breach rings, amulets, belts
- Pick one slot before spending
- Bank and trade if you do not self-craft
OVERVIEW
Stronghold progression
The Breach Stronghold is the quest milestone that bridges the Hive and the pinnacle boss. Completing it is what opens the path to Xesht.
Prioritise the Stronghold objective over farming extra Splinters once it is available; the pinnacle invitation is worth more than marginal Splinter volume.
Treat the Stronghold like a boss gate: arrive with your defensive board intact, because the objective assumes a character that already clears Hives comfortably.
- Stronghold bridges Hive and Xesht
- Finish it before farming more Splinters
- Arrive with a stable board
OVERVIEW
Reaching Xesht
Xesht, We That Are One, is the Breach pinnacle boss. The invitation opens after the Stronghold step of the Breach questline is complete.
Xesht has its own fight mechanics; this guide covers the path and preparation, while the boss page covers its attacks and phases in detail.
Only attempt Xesht once your character clears Hives without issue, since the pinnacle assumes a fully geared Breach runner.

CARD GRID
What players report
Community experiences; treat as strategy, not guaranteed math.
Open maps win Breaches
Players consistently report that open, fast-clearing maps sustain the breach timer far better than narrow layouts.
One quadrant at a time
Spreading Genesis points across all four quadrants early is the most common regret among Breach farmers.
Stronghold before farming
Many delay the Stronghold and miss the Xesht invitation; finishing it first is the efficient move.

Common problems
If your Breach keeps ending with almost no Splinters, you are likely on a closed map or moving too slow; switch to open layouts and a faster clear.
If Splinters will not combine, check you are holding the same Breachlord's Splinters; mixed Splinters do not form a Breachstone.
If the Xesht invitation never appears, you probably have not completed the Stronghold step; finish it before farming more Breachstones.
- No Splinters = closed map or slow clear
- No combine = wrong Breachlord Splinters
- No Xesht = Stronghold not done
