QUICK ANSWER
Direct answers
How do modifiers affect reward and danger?
Every modifier added to a Waystone raises both rewards and danger. More modifiers also reduce the number of revives you get when you open the map.
How many revives do I get?
As a rule of thumb: a Normal (0-mod) Waystone gives the most revives, a Magic (2-mod) fewer, a Rare 4-mod fewer still, and a Rare 6-mod or Corrupted map gives zero - one death ends the run. Exact counts should be re-confirmed on the client.
Which mods are dangerous for everyone?
No Regeneration / Reduced Recovery, reflecting or elemental-avoidance mods, chaos ground, and Corrupted 6-modifier maps (zero revives) are dangerous regardless of build. Build-specific mods matter too - see the matrix.
When should I skip a map?
Skip any map whose combined mods your build cannot survive, especially zero-revive corrupted maps, until your character consistently clears T15 content.
OVERVIEW
How to read a Waystone
A Waystone opens an Atlas map and sets its modifiers. Prefixes and suffixes both raise monster difficulty and improve rewards, so the line is a trade-off, not a free bonus.
Revives are the safety budget. The more modifiers a Waystone carries, the fewer retry attempts you get - and a heavily modified or corrupted map can offer none at all. Always check the revive count on the map device before you open.
- Modifier count drives both loot and danger - more is not automatically better.
- Corrupted and 6-modifier maps commonly grant zero revives; one death loses the map and everything inside.
- Tablets add region-wide bonuses; Magic maps unlock 1 slot, Rare 2, 6-mod 3.
- Active map modifiers are shown in the top-right of the minimap while you are inside.
MAP MODIFIERS
Modifier danger matrix
Rate each mod against your own build. Exact modifier text and rolls should be re-confirmed on the live 0.5.4 client.
| 词缀 | 影响对象 | 危险等级 | 症状 | 处理 | 版本 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| No Regeneration / Reduced Recovery | All builds | red | Your flasks and skills no longer heal you; chip damage becomes lethal. | Skip on low-recovery builds; add life-on-hit or leech before running. | 0.5 |
| Monsters reflect / avoid Elemental damage | Casters and elemental builds | yellow | Your main damage is resisted or reflected back at you. | Check your resistances; avoid reflect maps entirely if you cannot mitigate. | 0.5 |
| Extra / Faster Projectiles | Melee and slow-reaction builds | yellow | Telegraphed volleys are harder to dodge. | Use cover and only run if your build is mobile. | 0.5 |
| Increased Monster Speed / Teleport | Slow, stationary builds | yellow | Monsters close gaps and surround you. | Bring movement or escape tools before running. | 0.5 |
| No Life / Mana Leech | Leech-dependent builds | red | Your entire sustain layer disappears. | Never run on a leech-only build. | 0.5 |
| Reduced Armour / Evasion | Defensive stackers | yellow | Your mitigation drops sharply. | Compensate with resistances and layered defence. | 0.5 |
| Chaos damage ground | Low chaos-resist builds | red | Continuous chaos damage bypasses most defences. | Cap chaos resistance before T15+ corrupted maps. | 0.5 |
| Corrupted / 6-modifier (zero revives) | All builds | red | One death ends the map with no retry. | Only when you consistently survive T15 content. | 0.5 |
DIAGNOSTIC
Build-profile forbidden mods
Pick your build archetype to see which modifiers should be red flags for you.
RISK / REWARD
Risk versus reward
Decide whether a juiced map is worth opening.
| 选择 | 危险等级 | 风险 | 收益 | 何时选 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal or Magic Waystone for progression | green | Most revives, lowest danger | Steady map completion and Atlas points | Early Atlas and league start |
| Rare 4-mod 'Alchemy and Go' | yellow | Fewer revives, real danger | Better drops without heavy investment | Completed, geared builds |
| Corrupted 6-modifier map | red | Zero revives - one death loses everything | Highest tier rolls and T16 chance | Only when consistently surviving T15 |
| Running a mod your build cannot survive | red | Near-certain death | None | Never - sell or skip instead |
OVERVIEW
Reroll, run, sell or skip
Do not treat every map as a must-run. Match the map to your build's current strength.
- Reroll: use an Orb of Alchemy / Chaos / Vaal to change modifiers only if the result is clearly safer or more rewarding for your build.
- Run: open Normal/Magic for progression, and Rare 4-mod once geared.
- Sell: trade away maps whose mods your build hates - someone else can use them.
- Skip: delete or archive zero-revive corrupted maps you cannot survive yet; revisit them later.
CHECKLIST
Before you open the map
Check the revive count
Confirm how many revives the Waystone grants on the map device.
Zero-revive maps need a proven, survivable build.
Read every modifier line
Compare each mod against your personal forbidden-mod list.
Watch for combinations (speed + projectiles, reflect + no regen).
Confirm your defences
Resistances capped, flask sustain online, escape tool slotted.
If a mod removes your sustain, swap it or skip the map.

CARD GRID
Community questions, answered
Common Waystone questions from Reddit and video comments, each with our analysis and a direct suggestion.
Why do high-reward maps keep killing me?
Question: the map looked profitable but I died repeatedly.
Evidence: more modifiers means fewer revives and more danger, not just more loot.
Suggestion: run Rare 4-mod, not corrupted 6-mod, until you survive T15.
Should I always Alchemy and Go?
Question: is Rare 4-mod always the play?
Evidence: it is the safe middle ground for geared builds.
Suggestion: yes for farming; skip corrupted maps you cannot survive.
My build feels fine but a mod deletes it
Question: sudden deaths on specific maps.
Evidence: reflect / no-leech / no-regen target specific builds.
Suggestion: keep a personal forbidden-mod list and check it every map.
Are Tablet mods separate from Waystone mods?
Question: do Tablets stack dangerously?
Evidence: Tablets add region bonuses on top of the Waystone line.
Suggestion: account for both when judging a map's danger.

Troubleshooting
Most 'bad map' deaths are predictable once you read the line. The two failure modes are: your build lacks the defence a mod removes (regen, leech, resistances), or the mod count stripped your revives and a single mistake ended the run.
- If you cannot name why you died, re-read the modifier line and the revive count.
- Separate boss mechanics from map modifiers before blaming the boss.
- Keep a written forbidden-mod list and check it every map open.
