QUICK ANSWER
Quick answer
In a party, the 0.5 allocation rule assigns the drop to the Map owner; the item itself can still be obtained from other players via the currency exchange.
The invitation is consumed the moment you enter — there is no refund if you die, leave, or fail the gauntlet.
Fighting the Vessel of Kulemak pinnacle boss, building the Grip of Kulemak ring, and (as a Lich) unlocking the Abyssal Lich sub-ascendancy.
The Well of Souls — interact at the cliff edge; not the map screen and not the Act 2 campaign well.
Entering on an undergeared build, or resetting the wrong instance hoping the button reappears — the prompt only shows with the item in your inventory at the correct Well of Souls.

ACQUISITION
How to get Kulemak's Invitation
Kulemak's Invitation only drops from two specific Abyssal Commanders. The drop itself is guaranteed; the real bottleneck is forcing the Commander to spawn.
Abyssal Commanders (natural)
Tasgul, Swallower of Light and Vandroth, Blackblooded Enslaver appear in the Abyssal Depths reached from an Abyss fissure in level 79+ maps. Neither Commander is guaranteed to spawn, so you may clear many Abyss encounters before one appears.
Desecrated Waystone (forced)
A Desecrated Waystone guarantees an Abyssal boss appears in that map, turning the random spawn into a reliable run. This is the single biggest efficiency gain for farming invitations.
Atlas + Abyss nodes
Allocate Abyss frequency, Abyssal Depths depth, and 'Abysses lead to an Abyssal Boss' nodes on your Atlas passive tree, and run level 79+ maps so the Depths are on-level.
Currency Exchange / trade
Buy an invitation from other players (speak to Ange). Prices float through the league, so price-check live before buying. The invitation is tradeable.
USE FLOW
How to use Kulemak's Invitation
Hold the invitation
Keep Kulemak's Invitation in your main inventory. Community reports note it sits in the Fragment tab, not the Abyss tab — check the right stash tab before assuming it vanished.
Travel to the Well of Souls
Go to the correct Endgame Well of Souls (the location tied to the current Abyss endgame), not the ordinary Act 2 campaign well. Stand at the cliff edge.
Use 'Jump In'
With the item in your inventory a new prompt appears beside the Desecrate option. Interact with it — the invitation is consumed and you drop into the Black Cathedral.
Open the gate and fight
Present the invitation at the gate below, enter the arena, and defeat the Vessel of Kulemak. After the first kill you may 'Take the Finger' to leave with the ring, or revive the boss up to three more times to stack Desecrated modifiers.
Return the Finger (optional)
On the fourth clear, choose 'Return the Finger' to fight the Vessel at full strength. Winning as a Lich unlocks the Abyssal Lich sub-ascendancy.
VALID TARGET MATRIX
Where the invitation works
Kulemak's Invitation only works at the correct Well of Souls with the item in your inventory. It is not used from the map device and not at the Act 2 campaign well.
| Target | In inventory | Correct Well of Souls | Act 2 campaign well | Map device | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shows 'Jump In' | Yes | Yes | No | No | Prompt appears at cliff edge |
| Consumes on use | Yes | Yes | No | No | One run per invitation |
| Opens Black Cathedral | Yes | Yes | No | No | Fight Vessel of Kulemak |
PRE-USE CHECKLIST
Pre-use checklist
| Done | Check | Why it matters | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Build can clear it Confirm your build can survive the Vessel of Kulemak gauntlet before spending the invitation. | The invitation is consumed on entry with no refund on death or failure. | Farm a cheaper attempt or buy one only when prepared. | |
| Item in inventory Verify Kulemak's Invitation is in your main inventory / Fragment tab. | The 'Jump In' prompt only appears while the item is held. | Move it out of the wrong stash tab. | |
| Correct Well of Souls Travel to the Endgame Well of Souls, not the Act 2 campaign well. | The prompt does not appear at the wrong well. | Use the current Abyss endgame waypoint. | |
| Map owner (party) If in a party, the drop is allocated to the Map owner. | In 0.5 the invitation is assigned to the map owner on drop. | Have the map owner open it, or trade for your own. |
OUTCOME ANALYSIS
Outcomes by goal
| Scenario | Benefit | Risk | Audience | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Want the Grip of Kulemak | Build a chase ring with Desecrated modifiers | Low (Take the Finger early) | Any build | Low Take the Finger after first clear if you only want the ring |
| Abyssal Lich unlock | Sub-ascendancy + Abyssal Apparition skill | High (full-strength fight) | Lich ascendancy | High Return the Finger as a Lich after 3 revives |
| Currency farm | Ancient Bones / unique drops | Medium (entry cost) | Endgame farmers | Medium Use Desecrated Waystones to force spawns; price-check invitations |
| First attempt | See the encounter | Medium | New players | Medium Do not enter undergeared; treat as a pinnacle fragment |
BUILD USAGE
Which builds use it
Kulemak's Invitation is build-agnostic — any character that can clear the Vessel of Kulemak can use it. The reward path differs by ascendancy.
Lich (Abyssal Lich)
Return the Finger at full strength to unlock the Abyssal Lich sub-ascendancy and gain the Abyssal Apparition skill.
Ring crafters
Revive the Vessel up to 3 times to stack Desecrated modifiers onto the Grip of Kulemak before taking it.
Currency farmers
Force Abyssal Commander spawns with Desecrated Waystones and sell Ancient Bones / unique drops; the entry cost is the invitation.
COMMUNITY EVIDENCE
Community evidence
I have the invitation in my bag but the Well has no option to use it.
Players report the 'Jump In' prompt missing even with the item in inventory.
The prompt only appears at the correct Well of Souls with the invitation held. Common causes: wrong (Act 2 campaign) well, item in the wrong stash tab, or the instance was reset. In 0.5 the drop is also allocated to the Map owner in parties.
Travel to the Endgame Well of Souls with the invitation in your inventory; the 'Jump In' prompt appears at the cliff edge.
I farmed Depths for ages and never saw the Commander drop one.
Players conflate the guaranteed drop with the random spawn.
The drop is 100% once a Commander is defeated, but the Commander itself is not guaranteed to spawn in any given Abyssal Depths. Use a Desecrated Waystone to force the spawn.
Defeat Tasgul or Vandroth in level 79+ Abyssal Depths; the invitation is a guaranteed drop. Force the spawn with a Desecrated Waystone.
Is the invitation worth buying versus farming?
Community guides price-check the invitation weekly; values float.
Because the drop is gated by spawn RNG, buying is a legitimate shortcut. Treat all prices as league-variable and verify live on the trade site.
The invitation is tradeable; buy or farm depending on your time and currency.

Problems and direct answers
No 'Jump In' prompt at the Well
Direct answer: You are at the wrong Well, the item is not in your inventory, or you are not the Map owner in a party.
- Confirm you are at the Endgame Well of Souls (not the Act 2 campaign well).
- Verify the invitation is in your main inventory / Fragment tab.
- If in a party, remember the 0.5 rule allocates the drop to the Map owner — have them open it.
- Do not reset the instance expecting the button to reappear.
Cleared many Depths, no Commander
Direct answer: The Commander is not guaranteed to spawn; the drop is only guaranteed after a Commander dies.
- Use a Desecrated Waystone to guarantee an Abyssal boss spawns.
- Run level 79+ maps so the Depths are on-level.
- Allocate Abyss nodes on your Atlas tree.
Died inside and lost the invitation
Direct answer: The invitation is consumed on entry; there is no refund on death or failure.
- Refight or buy another invitation to retry.
- Enter only on a build that can clear the gauntlet.
Wrong version of the item?
Direct answer: This is the current 0.5 invitation. Older Realmgate / Splinter access items are not part of this flow.
- Do not follow pre-0.5 Realmgate guides for this item.
