QUICK ANSWER
Quick answer: can you use it, is it worth it
The four orbs are not interchangeable: each is bound to a category of equipment.
Every use permanently removes one random explicit modifier, so the decision is never just 'an upgrade'.
Sell the orb if you do not understand the enchantment upgrade pool, or if the orb is worth more than the item you would target.
Hold it if the gear is still transitional, or if losing any modifier would break the build, because there is no backup once applied.
Use it when the target, risk, and replacement are all planned, and you accept the worst-case modifier loss.
ITEM FAMILY
The four orbs map to four equipment categories
All four orbs share one rule: upgrade the corruption enchantment on a matching corrupted rare item, then remove one random explicit modifier. The difference is only which equipment they accept.
YAOMAC'S ORB OF SACRIFICE
Yaomac's Orb of Sacrifice
Rare weapons and quiversTargets rare weapons or quivers that are already corrupted and own a corruption enchantment.
KOPEC'S ORB OF SACRIFICE
Kopec's Orb of Sacrifice
Rare armourTargets rare helmets, chestplates, gloves, and boots that are already corrupted and own a corruption enchantment.
KAMASA'S ORB OF SACRIFICE
Kamasa's Orb of Sacrifice
Rare jewelleryTargets rare amulets, rings, and belts that are already corrupted and own a corruption enchantment.
YUGUL'S ORB OF SACRIFICE
Yugul's Orb of Sacrifice
Rare jewelsTargets rare jewels that are already corrupted and own a corruption enchantment.
VALID TARGET MATRIX
Valid target matrix
A target must be rare, corrupted, of the matching item class, and already own a corruption enchantment. Missing any condition makes the orb unusable.
| Target | Yaomac | Kopec | Kamasa | Yugul | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rare weapon / quiver | Usable | — | — | — | Must already own a corruption enchantment. |
| Rare armour | — | Usable | — | — | Confirm the piece is in the armour class. |
| Rare amulet / ring / belt | — | — | Usable | — | Jewellery core modifiers are often the hardest to lose. |
| Rare jewel | — | — | — | Usable | Confirm the jewel enchantment can be upgraded. |
| Unique / uncorrupted / no enchant | No | No | No | No | Fails the target condition entirely. |
ACQUISITION
How to get them
These orbs are not a normal world drop. They come from the end of the Vaal Temple chain, behind Atziri's Vault.
Build and progress the Vaal Temple
Complete the Temple route and unlock the path that leads to Atziri.
Defeat Atziri, the Red Queen
The Orbs of Sacrifice drop from the vault opened after defeating Atziri.
Check which of the four dropped
The vault can drop any one of the four; a single kill does not guarantee a specific orb.
Trade or use
Market prices must use timestamped data; never write a fixed 'always' price into static text.
PRE-USE CHECKLIST
Pre-use checklist
| Done | Check | Why it matters | Quick fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Item class matches the orb Confirm the orb name maps to the target's item class using the matrix above. | Wrong pairing means the orb cannot be applied at all. | Switch to the correct orb for this equipment category. | |
| Already a corrupted rare item Check the tooltip for both the Rare and Corrupted labels. | Missing either label fails the target condition. | Only apply to items that already meet both states. | |
| Owns an upgradable corruption enchantment Confirm the enchantment exists and what it can roll into using a database reference. | Without it there is no defined benefit target. | Research the upgrade pool before committing. | |
| List every explicit modifier Mark each modifier as 'can lose' or 'cannot lose'. | Losing a build-core modifier bricks the item. | Do not use if any modifier is non-negotiable. | |
| Prepare a replacement item Place a backup in inventory or stash. | Failure leaves the build unable to function. | Only proceed with a real fallback ready. | |
| Compare orb and item market value Use a dated market snapshot, not feeling. | Spending a high-value orb on a low-value base wastes currency. | Sell the orb if it is worth more than the target. |
USE FLOW
How to use it
Right-click the orb
The client enters the apply-currency state.
Select a valid target
Confirm class, rarity, corruption, and enchantment.
Confirm the risk
One explicit modifier is removed at random.
Review the result
Record the upgraded enchantment and the removed modifier.
Four explicit modifiers, one of which will be removed at random.
Enchantment upgraded, one explicit modifier gone, item now permanently changed.
The example shows the structure only; the real result pool must be confirmed against the current client and database.
OUTCOME ANALYSIS
Outcome analysis
| Scenario | Benefit | Risk | Audience | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core weapon with one build-required modifier | Enchantment upgrade can raise the ceiling significantly | Losing the core modifier bricks the weapon | High-investment players with a spare weapon | High Cautious: only with a real replacement |
| High-defence armour with no single required modifier | Enchantment upgrades while keeping most defence | Losing life or resistance | Players who can adjust other slots | Medium Evaluable case by case |
| Jewellery used to fill resistances or attributes | Strong jewellery enchantment upgrade | Losing any filler modifier can break the setup | Players with a full backup plan | High High risk |
| Jewel with no unique core modifier | Upgrades the corruption enchantment | Loses an ordinary explicit modifier | Players who can re-buy easily | Low More controllable |
RISK ANALYSIS
Risk analysis
| Scenario | Gain | Loss | Risk | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enchantment has no worthwhile upgrade | Little to none | A useful explicit modifier is still removed | High | Do not use until the upgrade pool is confirmed valuable. |
| Item has one non-negotiable modifier | Enchantment may improve | The required modifier can be the one removed | High | Treat as a brick risk; hold or sell instead. |
| Redundant item with spare copies | Enchantment upgrade on a disposable base | A replaceable modifier | Low | Acceptable test case. |
USE / SELL / HOLD
Use, sell, or hold
Before using, build the 'can-lose' list. If any modifier is non-negotiable, describe the use as an ordinary upgrade.
BUILD USAGE
Build usage
These orbs matter most for builds that depend on a specific corruption enchantment. List the modifiers you absolutely cannot lose before considering use.
Corrupted gear builds
Builds that already plan around a corruption enchantment benefit when the upgrade is confirmed valuable.
↗High-investment endgame characters
Characters with spare replacements can absorb a failed roll; league-start characters usually should not gamble.
COMMUNITY EVIDENCE
Community evidence
My upgraded resistance enchantment is strong, but I also lost an ordinary modifier.
A player showed a corrupted enchantment upgraded after using an Orb of Sacrifice and discussed whether the high resistance was worth the lost modifier.
The case proves the upside can be high, but a single success does not represent the average result. Pages must show both the success and the failure cost.
Decide using the worst-case removed modifier, not the best upgraded result.
Can I use Yaomac's orb to push my staff's skill level higher?
A player hoped to raise skill level by upgrading a weapon corruption enchantment, while worrying about losing cast speed or a normal skill-level modifier.
This must be judged together with the build page, not only by the enchantment ceiling.
List the受益 builds and the non-negotiable modifiers directly below the article.
Why does my orb not apply at all?
Common causes are mismatched item class, not rare, no corruption enchantment, or the wrong one of the four orbs.
Most 'cannot use' reports are target-condition mistakes, not client bugs.
Check the compatibility matrix item by item before clicking again.
PROBLEMS & DIRECT ANSWERS
Problems and direct answers
The client says this item cannot use the Orb of Sacrifice
Direct answer: The most common cause is orb-to-equipment mismatch, or the target is not a corrupted rare item that owns a corruption enchantment.
- Confirm the orb name and the target class.
- Confirm the Rare and Corrupted labels.
- Confirm a corruption enchantment exists on the tooltip.
Can one item be used multiple times?
Direct answer: Whether repeated use is possible depends on the remaining enchantment state and the current client rules; confirm with the current version, not a community single case.
- Check the current client behaviour before assuming repeated use.
How is this different from Architect's Orb?
Direct answer: Orb of Sacrifice upgrades a corruption enchantment on matching rare items and sacrifices a random explicit modifier; Architect's Orb is a different high-risk currency for corrupted items.
- Read the Architect's Orb article for the separate risk profile.

faq
FAQ
Can I use these on Uniques?
No. The valid targets are rare, corrupted items of the matching class that already own a corruption enchantment.
Does the market price stay fixed?
No. Any price shown must be timestamped with region and league; static text never promises a fixed rate.
Should I use it on league-start gear?
Usually no. League-start characters rarely have a spare to absorb a failed roll.
