OVERVIEW
Quick summary
Path of Exile 2 launched its endgame at 0.1.0 as a standalone Atlas of Worlds. Rather than a single map pool, the launch endgame combined Waystones that opened map nodes, Towers that projected buffs across regions, Tablets that modified those towers, and Citadels that anchored the late map ring.
On top of the Atlas, four league mechanics — Breach, Expedition, Ritual and Delirium — were present in maps from day one. This page is the total-entry history of that original endgame: what 0.1.0 shipped, how it was stabilised in the first weeks, and which systems still resemble the current client versus what later patches rebuilt.
- Standalone Atlas of Worlds at launch with Waystones, Towers, Tablets, Citadels
- Breach, Expedition, Ritual and Delirium active in maps from day one
- First weeks tuned Waystone prefixes and map sustain before larger rebuilds
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Historical warning
Path of Exile 2 Early Access — the 0.1.0 endgame era
Current-status claims on this page are measured against client 0.5.4e.
0.1.0 is a historical baseline, not a current endgame guide. The Atlas and its supporting systems were expanded and rebuilt repeatedly across the first year of Early Access.
Treating a 0.1.0 Atlas video as a current tutorial is misleading: Waystone tiering, Tower behaviour and map sustain were changed within the first weeks and then again by 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5.
- 0.1.0 = endgame starting point, not final design
- Day-1 Atlas videos are historical records, not current guides
- All current-rule claims below are checked against 0.5.4e
OVERVIEW
What the 0.1.0 Atlas contained
The launch Atlas presented a ring of map nodes that players progressed through using Waystones. Towers sat on the overworld map and, once captured, projected a modifier across nearby map nodes; Tablets slotted into Towers to change that modifier, and Citadels appeared in the outer ring as high-threat encounters.
This structure let a single region feel different from the next, but the exact rules for Waystone rarity, Tower coverage and Tablet effects were in their first form and changed soon after.
- Waystones open map nodes on the Atlas ring
- Towers project modifiers; Tablets change those modifiers
- Citadels anchored the outer high-threat ring

My maps run out of Waystones way too fast, this cannot be final.
Are these Atlas guides still good or did they rework the map?
Why does my Atlas look nothing like the 0.1.0 video?
